YSS is divided into three main service areas. Listed below are these services areas allowing access to project examples. Each project example is a link (on the right) to a separate web page where you can read specific details. As YSS develops as an organisation these service areas will change and adapt over time.

Mentoring, Diversion and Support Programmes

YSS offers a wide range of volunteer-based services to young people who are either at risk of entering or re-entering the criminal justice system and for those not in education, employment or training. Many of these services are delivered by working in a one-to-one mentoring relationship over a sustained period of time or alternatively through short focussed interventions. At present there are 11 projects delivered within this service area.

Criminal Justice Programmes

YSS has a unique contribution to make in the criminal justice world, where we have a growing reputation for being able to provide intensive supervision and support to some of the most challenging, difficult young and adult offenders who are also at times some of the most vulnerable, damaged and disadvantaged people in our society. By working intensively, mainly on an individual basis, with these young people and offenders and their families, we are attempting to link them back into their schools, homes, jobs and society, and away from further offending.

Children,Young People & Families

This service area delivers a range of targeted support projects for children, young people and families who are under-supported and disadvantaged. These include services for young carers, young people in care, young people living in rural areas, service user involvement programmes, advocacy and preventative programmes such as YISP (Youth Inclusion and Support Programmes).
