Worcestershire Young Carers
We are currently keen to raise funds for our Worcestershire Young Carers project. One of our biggest on-going costs is for running weekly youth clubs specifically for Young Carers. Through clubs we currently support 100 young people per year.
Clubs are held every two weeks in Droitwich and young people are transported into the club for an evening of fun and activities to provide them with some much needed time out and respite from their caring duties. This allows them an opportunity to relax and just be a young person, an opportunity that they might not otherwise have.
The clubs are run for two age groups, they are for 8-13 years and also for 14-18 years. As well as activities these clubs provide one-to-one support from staff and allow young people to socialise and mix with others and receive peer support from those who share similar responsibilities.
The clubs cost about £25k per annum to run and we usually only have funding for a few months ahead at anyone time. Any donation or fundraising activity you could develop would be gratefully received.
If you think you can help please contact Tom Humphries, Service Manager directly on 01299 252304 or E-mail at tom.humphries@yss.org.uk
