Working for YSS
Many practitioner based posts at YSS do not require a specific 'professional' qualification such as a social work degree, NVQ 4 in criminal justice or youth work diploma/degree. Many of our full time practitioner staff have originally joined as volunteers or as paid sessional workers. In these circumstances it is more important for individuals to have the appropriate motivation, interpersonal skills and interest in our work. YSS then provides in-house induction, training and on-going supervision.
Volunteering is an excellent way of developing the relevant experience and skills to apply for sessional and permanent posts both within YSS and partner organisations.
For full time and part time posts practitioners need to demonstrate appropriate and significant experience in related settings.
A smaller number of specific posts do require a relevant qualification and these will be clearly identified in the application pack and job descriptions.
All available posts will be advertised on this web-site under the 'situations vacant' page.
