Shropshire Youth Inclusion & Support Program [YISP]

This is a brand new project that YSS is developing in partnership with Shropshire County Council, the Children's Trust, the Children's Fund and the Youth Offending Service. It is a large scale preventative project and is aimed at 8-17 year olds at risk of anti-social or criminal behaviour.

The project will work with 200 young people per year on a voluntary basis, for around 4 months in duration each. YSS will undertake assessments on young people referred and develop individual action plans in partnership with each young person and their parent/carer. Each young person will be supported by their own key worker and they will also be offered the support of a volunteer mentor. Parents can also be offered support through the key worker and the YSS Parenting Project. The YISP will work very closely with local agencies including Childrens' Services, Education, Health, Police and local community groups to ensure young people referred receive a ‘seamless' service where they have a single point of contact.

A significant feature of this project is the significant role that children and young people are having in its design, implementation and on going development.
