Droitwich Lions Club supports young carers in Worcestershire Kind-hearted club and regular supporters of YSS (Your Support Service), Droitwich Lions, recently donated more than £100 to support young carers in Worcestershire. The Rotary Club held a charity concert in November featuring performances from local band, RMA, and Black Country poet, David Bartley. The evening took place at the Droitwich Working Men’s Club and raised a fantastic £150 through ticket sales and a fundraising raffle. Earlier this month Andy, a member of the club, visited YSS Head Office to deliver the cheque in person to Worcestershire Young Carers keyworker David King and Senior Project Coordinator Jon Cawdron. Jon said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Droitwich Lions for raising a whopping £150 to support our work with young carers. Their support means we are able to continue to provide a wide variety of clubs and activities throughout the year for young carers to enjoy. We are extremely grateful for the club’s continued support and thank them for their fantastic generosity.” Worcestershire Young Carers currently supports more than 450 young people aged seven to 25 with a caring role at home. As well as assessment and signposting, the service regularly delivers clubs and trips for young carers to enjoy, ranging from horse riding and fishing to ice skating and visiting the theatre. These activities are vital in giving young carers the chance to have some fun and take a break from their caring responsibilities.
