HRH The Princess Royal Visits YSS HRH The Princess Royal attended an event hosted by YSS on Friday 8 November, at Hereford Football Club. The Princess - who has been patron of the charity since 2008 - met with staff, volunteers, local dignitaries and service users, and was updated about the charity’s work in the community, with a particular focus on Herefordshire. The event, Working Together in Herefordshire Now and in the Future, brought together organisations working in the county, to find common links and seek ways of working collaboratively to solve issues and challenges in the community. Her Royal Highness joined a round table discussion with local community and charity leaders and YSS trustees, focusing on local issues and informing future strategy. The Princess was then introduced to staff and guests during a ‘community emporium’ showcasing YSS and partners’ work in Herefordshire and beyond. Catherine Kevis, YSS Chief Executive said, “We are delighted and honoured that our wonderful patron, HRH The Princess Royal was able to join us and provide important support for our work. A real cornerstone of what we do involves working collaboratively to meet the needs of local communities over the long term; this event has brought together our colleagues in Herefordshire so that we can explore effective solutions together, based on a real understanding of the issues that local people are facing.” YSS was established in 1986 and now supports 2,000 individuals each year across West Mercia. The charity’s work is based in local communities with rehabilitation and prevention services: Early Help in family centres, Young Carers, Veterans and Women at risk of offending and young people at risk.
