Official opening of new veterans' centre A new Veterans Contact Point Centre in Nuneaton was officially opened on 9th October, by The Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC. Staff from YSS' Remember Veterans service attended the opening ceremony, during which veterans gathered in a formal parade and the Union Jack was raised in front of the building in commemoration of the work of the Armed Forces. The centre's mission is to: 'Support all of the Armed Forces Communities, those who are still serving and those who have served; help them to find work and a place in their community, and to raise awareness of the skills and abilities in abundance in all our Armed Forces Personnel and their Families.' YSS’ Remember Veterans service provides specialised support to ex-armed forces personnel across West Mercia (including Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin), who are involved in the criminal justice system. The Remember Veterans Link Worker (who is also a veteran) provides practical and emotional one to one support to veterans in the community, in custody, or on release from prison.
