Due to the close working relationship between YSS and the police, and the role YSS plays as a key influencer, Lorraine was invited to attend the national event on behalf of the charity by West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion. The conference is being held at the iconic Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Library in Birmingham City Centre, on International Women’s Day, Friday 8 March. The conference is being hosted by four regional police forces; Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and West Mercia, and aims to create a positive environment for collaboration to flourish, encouraging influencers, policy makers, partners and selected invitees to work together for the greater good. Hosted by Steph McGovern from BBC Breakfast, keynote speakers include Cressida Dick, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Olivia Pinkney, Chief Constable of Hampshire, Ruby Wax, wellbeing and mental health campaigner, lecturer and author, Jess Phillips, MP for Yardley, Birmingham and Published author, and Karen McClusky, knife crime reduction activist. Before attending the event Lorraine commented: “I am really looking forward to attending the Senior Women in Policing conference and am grateful to be attending the event as a guest of West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion. A lot of our work at YSS involves working closely with the Police, particularly through our Appropriate Adult service, to provide the best support possible for the people who need us. I am delighted to be representing YSS and look forward to seeing what the day has to offer.” To find out more about any of the services YSS delivers, please click here, or to read more about the conference, please click here.
