YSS attends National Road Safety Conference YSS #MORSE lead, David Andrewartha, recently attended the National Safer Roads conference in Telford. The two day event, organised by Road Safety GB, included main events comprising a series of presentations tailored for practitioners, covering a range of ‘grass roots’ issues such as: sustainable transport & road safety; public health & air quality; driving for work; cyclists & motorcyclists; shared space; funding; and internal ‘politics’, as well as 'fringe' events with workshops and guest speakers. David said: "There are lots of really interesting safer roads initiatives being delivered nationally and a real focus of the conference was on the negative impact speeding can have on drivers and their local communities. There was a particularly interesting section of the conference which focused on behaviour change models and I look forward to working with Will Thomas, H&WFRS and the SFRS to develop our own #MORSE behaviour change model. The strength of the #MORSE model is the capacity to bring all partners together, working in collaboration; my understanding is that this collaborative approach does not seem to be adopted nationally and the model we have created is very innovative. Hopefully we will be delivering a presentation at next year’s conference, sharing all of our success stories and the positive impact we have had on all road users.” For more information about #MORSE please click here.
