HOW DO I VOLUNTEER?

• First of all you need to complete and submit an application form. To download the form please click here.
• Your local YSS volunteer co-ordinator will then arrange to meet you at a place and time to suit you. This will give you the opportunity to find out more about YSS and the work we are involved in.  It also gives YSS the chance to find out more about you and your expectations about the volunteer work in which you are interested and explain what happens next in terms of training  if you decided to proceed.
• As all of our volunteering positions involve working directly with our service users we carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) check on everyone who volunteers for us. This does not exclude people with criminal convictions from applying and please do not hesitate to contact your local volunteer co-ordinator if you are concerned about this and wish to discuss the matter further before applying.
• YSS runs volunteer training programmes throughout the year. Basic training programmes normally last two days and are run on weekdays and at weekends in a range of locations throughout our region.
