We're excited to be celebrating our amazing volunteers during #VolunteersWeek from 1 - 7 June. YSS volunteers put in so much time and effort to help us deliver a range of services that have such a positive impact on people's lives.

During the week, we'll be at various events including:

Monday 3 June: Volunteer market place event at Worcester County Council 12-2pm.

Wednesday 5th June: We are delighted to be joining some of our volunteers for a meal as a ‘thank you’ for all their hard work over the year.

Friday 7th June: Volunteers Expo, The Guildhall, Worcester - an opportunity to visit, and talk, to over 40 different voluntary and community organisations, to find out all about the wide variety of volunteering opportunities which exist in and around the city. Whether you'd like to volunteer with children, young people, older people, animals, or in the environment, there will be organisations suitable for people to meet.

Ness Cole, Head of Service - South Worcestershire Parenting and Community Development at Action for Children, said: "As well as being highly motivated, professional and approachable workers, the YSS team have a real understanding of the power of volunteering and the skills and life experiences that volunteers can bring to our organisation.  This is a two way process and volunteers are also gaining a great deal from their input. In short - we are a richer, more effective and relevant service because of our volunteers and because of our partnership with YSS." Action for Children and YSS work in partnership to deliver South Worcestershire Parenting and Family Support, a support service for local families with children aged 0 - 19."

YSS offers a range of fantastic volunteering opportunities; these include mentoring young people and adults, working with young carers, supporting families and acting as an Appropriate Adult (AA) to support young people through the custody process.

As a volunteer you will receive:

  •  Thorough recruitment and induction
  •  Training and skills development opportunities
  •  Ongoing support
