Kind-hearted members of the Droitwich Inner Wheel Club have recently donated a whopping £750 to Worcestershire Young Carers at YSS.

Last year the club adopted Worcestershire Young Carers as its Charity of the Year, and sponsored a trip for young carers to the Pamela May canal boat during the summer. Since then, members of the charitable club have been busy raising money to support young carers, donating £250 at Christmas and a further £750 this month.

Glenys Griffiss, President of the club, said: “We decided to support Worcestershire Young Carers as these young people sacrifice so much and can often be hidden from view. They do incredible work and we were moved when we read some of their stories on YSS’ website.

“We raised the money through a range of events including a Ploughman’s lunch, a quiz night and a race night, and had a lot of fun in the process!”

Worcestershire Young Carers supports more than 450 young carers across the county every year. The service, delivered by YSS since 2003, provides assessment, one-to-one support and signposting to children and young people aged seven to 25 who have a caring role at home.

Lorraine Preece, YSS Chief Executive, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at the Droitwich Inner Wheel Club for their continued support of Worcestershire Young Carers. The money they have generously donated will be used to help provide a variety of activities for young carers to enjoy, like horse riding, ice skating or visiting the seaside, which are vitally important in giving young carers a break and the chance to kick back and have some fun away from their caring roles and responsibilities.”
