Lottery goes live for YSS YSS is delighted to be part of the Worcester Community Lottery, a weekly draw that benefits local causes, with a prize fund of up to £25,000. The lottery is an easy way for the community to support YSS: weekly tickets can be bought online for just £1, with 60% of all ticket sales going to good causes around Worcestershire (50% goes directly to YSS and 10% goes towards a good causes fund). All money raised from ticket sales will go to Worcestershire Young Carers, to take a group of 40 young carers on a summer trip by coach to the seaside, giving them the opportunity to relax and have fun with their peers, play cricket and have fish and chips on the seafront. Lorraine Preece, Chief Executive, said: "We are thrilled to be joining the lottery, which is such an easy way for people to support YSS. Our aim is to raise £1,500 for our young carers, who because of their caring roles, often aren't able to take part in everyday activities that most of us take for granted. A trip to the seaside is a way of us giving something back to them, and giving them a chance to take some time out to relax and have fun." Worcestershire Young Carers has been successfully delivered by YSS since 2003 and currently supports more than 500 young carers in the county every year. As well as clubs, trips and activities throughout the year, the service provides one to one support, assessment and signposting to children and young people aged seven to 25 who have a caring role at home.
