This week YSS delivered a two-day volunteer mentor training workshop covering topics such as risk, safeguarding, confidentiality, professional boundaries and communication. The sessions were led by YSS Operations Director (criminal justice projects), David Andreartha and YSS Volunteer Co-ordinator, Laura Evans.

The training, which was attended by 10 new volunteers, was held at Worcester Community Centre in Dines, Worcester.

On the second day, the group was joined by YSS senior managers and keyworkers from the different Worcestershire based criminal justice projects, as well as three service users. The service users explained about the support they had received from YSS and the importance of the role of YSS volunteers.

David said: "Myself and Laura both thoroughly enjoyed delivering the training; the service users spoke with confidence, passion and pride. The barriers that each service user has had to overcome and the positive changes they have made to their lives they are an inspiration to us all. The volunteers were engaging, passionate and motivated to support and make a difference to the lives of the individuals who we work with."
