YSS celebrates Investor in Volunteers award We're delighted to announce that we've received the Investor in Volunteers accreditation from the NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations). The accreditation has been made following an assessment of YSS and its volunteering opportunities, including specific 'indicators' such as: commitment to the development of its volunteers; diversity of volunteers and their skills and developing roles for them which reflect this diversity; ensuring volunteers' safety and wellbeing; and training and ongoing support. YSS Director, Debb Grantham, said: "This is a great achievement, and we're delighted to have all our work with volunteers recognised in this way - it highlights the value we place on these fantastic people who bring such a diverse range of skills; however, it's the volunteers themselves to whom we really owe our gratitude, because they put in so much hard work and the support they give makes such a massive difference to people's lives." YSS has around 50 volunteers who support the charity's work across its services in West Mercia (Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin) and Warwickshire. They help in a number of ways, including supporting families with young children, being an Appropriate Adult for a young person in custody, and helping mentor young carers.
