What we do Children, Young People and Families South Worcs Parenting and Community Development South Worcestershire Parenting & Community Development South Worcestershire Parenting & Community Development Action For Children’s South Worcestershire Parenting and Community Development service plays an important role in supporting local families with children aged 0-19. By providing training, advice and guidance the local Action For Children team empower their clients to 'nip things in the bud' early and this limits the risk of escalation. The service places an emphasis on a holistic ‘whole family’ approach that will result in long term, sustainable change for clients. SWPFS includes: Children Centre services, positive parenting courses, individual family support, adult learning, support within schools and communities to engage young people with their education and work journey, and advice and guidance to young people who are not in education. YSS Involvement In 2014, YSS was commissioned by Action For Children to deliver the volunteering element of the then Worcester City Early Help service. As the project grew to incorporate all of South Worcestershire, so too did the relationship with YSS. YSS provides two dedicated volunteer co-ordinators who recruit, train, support and retain volunteers across the Worcester City, Malvern Hills and Wychavon districts of Worcestershire. This ensures a more personal volunteering experience during recruitment and throughout a person’s volunteering journey. Action For Children’s South Worcestershire Parenting and Community Development service offers their volunteers the unique experience of co-delivering their services. Rather than just supporting the service, volunteers are encouraged to take the lead in delivering community toddler groups, directly support clients at children centres and trained to co-facilitate parenting groups. This experience has proved invaluable to local people who want to really make a difference in their local area. Full training is provided for all available roles.
